Tohoku University Emergency Scholarship

In light of the COVID-19 pandemic and the state of emergency declared by the Japanese government, Tohoku University has requested that students limit their activities on campus and their part-time employment. To enable students to continue their studies under such severe restrictions, the university will offer financial aid through the Emergency Scholarship as part of its Emergency Support Package. Facility guidelines for the Graduate School/
Faculty of Arts and Letters
(in accordance with Level 4 of the Tohoku University BCP)

Following the declaration of a nationwide state of emergency on April 16, Tohoku University has raised its BCP level to 4 (“maximum restrictions”). In order to help prevent the spread of coronavirus disease, please observe the guidelines for the use of the Graduate School/Faculty of Arts and Letters facilities and labs provided below. Please make sure to read announcements for students distributed via the Graduate School/Faculty of Arts and Letters official website and DCMail.
 
1.   Please avoid going out unnecessarily.
 
2.   Students and researchers are prohibited to use department rooms, research rooms, laboratories, graduate student rooms, lounges and other common spaces. In case it is absolutely necessary to use one of the facilities, you must first receive permission (by email) from the department faculty member. Please avoid contacting other people and do not stay on site longer than required.
 
3. Administrative departments and offices will be closed. Please refrain from going to the administrative departments on the second floor. All consultations will be conducted via email correspondence.
 
4.   Faculty staff (including assistance professors) and research assistants should work from home whenever possible. If you are required to work on campus, please stay in your office and reduce the amount of time you spend on site to the minimum.
 
5. Please disinfect your hands with an alcohol-based sanitizer every time you enter or leave a faculty building.
