Renewal Signing Ceremony Held for the Faculty-Level Academic Exchange Agreement with the Faculty of Psychology, Chulalongkorn University (Thailand)

On Sunday, 9 August, 2026, a delegation from the Faculty of Psychology at Chulalongkorn University, Thailand, visited Tohoku University for the renewal signing ceremony of the faculty-level academic exchange agreement with the Graduate School/Faculty of Arts and Letters.

Chulalongkorn University is Thailand's premier institution of higher education. Since the conclusion of a university-level academic exchange agreement in 2011, our two universities have cultivated a deep bond and a strong cooperative relationship over many years. Building upon this solid foundation, the Faculty of Psychology at Chulalongkorn University and the Graduate School/Faculty of Arts and Letters signed a faculty-level academic exchange agreement in 2019, alongside a Memorandum of Understanding concerning student and faculty exchanges, as well as the co-hosting of international symposia. This occasion marks the fourth renewal of the agreement.

The ceremony was attended by numerous researchers from partner universities who were participating in "The 3rd Asian International Conference on Psychology," held at Tohoku University on the same day. In a warm and amicable atmosphere, Professor Naoko Yata, Dean of the Graduate School/Faculty of Arts and Letters, and Dean Nattasuda Taephant of the Faculty of Psychology at Chulalongkorn University, signed the agreement. Both parties reaffirmed their commitment to further advancing collaboration between the two institutions, including joint research, co-hosted symposia, and exchanges among faculty and students.

The ceremony was also attended by 10 faculty members and students from Chulalongkorn University. From Tohoku University, over 10 faculty members were present. Alongside Dean Yata, attendees included Professor Hiroshi Yokomizo (Vice Dean and Director of the International Exchange Division), seven faculty members from the Department of Psychology including Professors Tsuneyuki Abe and Nobuyuki Sakai, as well as Professor Koji Ono (Program Director of the International Graduate Program in Japanese Studies: GPJS).

Taking this renewal as an opportunity, we anticipate that the ties between our two institutions will deepen further, yielding continuous and progressive achievements in both research and education.
